Apple Health, with your permission
StepFurr requests read-only access to your step count, walking and running distance, and active energy through Apple Health. It never writes to Health. Manually entered samples are excluded from activity totals.
You can change access at any time in Apple’s Health app. Missing distance and energy readings are not estimated from your steps. Apple does not tell apps whether an individual read permission was denied.
What stays on your iPhone
Your activity readings, eggs, hatch outcomes, goals, preferences, and hatch progress are stored locally in the app’s protected files. The app does not require a StepFurr account and has no advertising, analytics, or tracking.
Progress is excluded from automatic device and iCloud backup. Removing the app can remove local progress. If you use Pro, create an iCloud collection backup before removing the app to retain your discovered cats.
Optional backup, on your terms
StepFurr Pro offers collection backup to your private iCloud account when you choose to back it up. It contains discovered cat identities, elements, rarities, and hatch dates. It does not contain Health readings, unhatched eggs, preferences, purchase entitlement, or unfinished hatch progress.
Restoring a collection merges discovered cats by hatch identity. If you import a compatible progress file during onboarding, that file may also contain activity and other game progress.
Widgets and reminders
The Home Screen widget reads a protected local snapshot shared by the app. It does not query Apple Health or iCloud directly. Optional daily reminders are scheduled on your device with your notification permission.
Purchases
Apple processes in-app payments. StepFurr uses verified App Store transactions to establish Pro access. Local delivery records save awarded bonus eggs and unfinished hatches; those records do not establish a paid entitlement.
